About the Author
It was October 28, 2010 when lab report findings confirmed that I had prostate cancer. The biopsy study revealed that I had a stage T2 prostate cancer with a Gleason score of 9. My urologist recommended that I have immediate surgery since this was a very aggressive form of cancer. I also met with a radiation oncologist who also suggested immediate treatment with Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT). Despite the urgent warnings and results promised, it would be some six months before I consented to having a radical prostatectomy.
- Why did I wait six months before receiving treatment?
- Why did I opt for surgery over radiotherapy?
- Did I put myself at greater risk by delaying treatment?
- What potential risks did I face with surgery?
- What potential side effects were not explained to me before surgery?
- What did I do to shorten my hospital stay and speed recovery at home?
All these questions and more are answered inside this book. The information herein is intended to help prostate cancer victims make a more well informed decision about their treatment options, especially if they are considering surgery. This book will spare you unnecessary trips to the ER and needless worrying during the healing process. Most importantly this book will help you find the best medical care possible if your are under the Medicaid or Medicare health programs.
